The organization of the Planet-Earth-Simulator Project should be as simple as possible and will possibly change during it's further development. The following picture gives a rough overview of the actual organization.
The Planet-Earth-Simulator Project is an official project within the Institut for New Media (INM) (Frankfurt, Germany), which is an acknowledged non-profit organization (see also funding). The Institut provides a complete hosting for the PES-project (rooms, it, bank account, phone, etc.). The project is headed by the pes-board consisting of the pes-founders (Gerd Doeben-Henisch, Jens Heise) and members of the different working groups (actually world council, software, modeling, media). Everybody which has access to the world wide web can address the project page and can interact with the project, either only passively by reading the documents and testing different simulations or actively by contributing knowledge and models. The project will offer several project services including mailing lists for different topics, a version control system (cvs), a bugreport system (bugzilla, and --most important-- a pes-wiki, which allows the continuous cooperative development of our document documentation |
